DPRK Fires Artillery Into Sea as Tensions Rise
SEOUL: North Korea fired an artillery barrage on Monday in waters near the disputed inter-Korean border, as the sea tensions rose over a South Korean naval exercise and the seizure of one of the boats fishing Seoul.
Seoul military officials said the North batteries in around 130 shells into the Yellow Sea shortly after the South Navy ended a five-day naval exercise south of the border – which the North had threatened
retaliation.
“Our navy has been placed on high alert, a close watch on the movement of North Korean forces, a Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), AFP spokesman.
