Chinese Rescuers Search for Survivors
Wails of grief echoed through a northwestern Chinese city half suffocated by a landslide two days ago, as family members washed mud caked bodies pulled from ruins and the official death toll mounted.
The count of the dead from the disaster in Zhouqu in a narrow valley in Gansu province, earlier on Monday jumped 137 to 337, according to a local official quoted by the official Xinhua news agency.
